You know I love Mondays, if you’ve been reading this blog for a while. Weatherwise, this one definitely qualifies as gloomy, overcast and dark, with more rain on the way. We had a dandy thunder and lightning storm last night–what a show!
The weekend went pretty much according to plan–I made some artist trading cards, did some reading, listened to several podcasts and a memoir by Joyce Maynard (author of “After Her”, a novel I mentioned on the blog a while back) called “At Home in the World.” It was quite fascinating–memoirs usually are, which is why they are among my favorite reading material–detailing her development as a writer (I thought I started young! ), struggles with marriage and motherhood, and her youthful romance with author J.D. Salinger, of “Catcher in the Rye” fame.
I remember reading that book in high school–it was scandalously frank, for the time–and my friends and I passed around the same dog-earred copy until it literally fell apart. I don’t recall much about the book, to be honest, but I do recall why we all wanted to read it–because our moms didn’t want us to. 🙂
There’s a new contest starting this week, so make your comments. One difference, though–I’m traveling Wednesday through Sunday, on a research trip, so winners may not be notified and announced until next Monday. If I can blog on the road, I will, but it’s always a crap-shoot, since I am not the most technologically savvy person in the world.
In the meantime, I’m going to be mysterious about my destination. 🙂

CHRISTMAS MEMORIES
I have so many precious memories of this, my favorite
