My editor, my friend

Joan Marlow Golan, my longtime editor and one of my dearest friends, is retiring this week, moving on to a new and exciting phase of her life.

Joan, you have been my mentor, my teacher, my guiding light when the waters of publishing turned dark and stormy, my fellow celebrant when the victories came.
You’ve taught me so much about writing, and so much about being a good person.
I have you to thank for my interest in meditation and gardening, among many other things.
You’ve  inspired me.
You’ve  held me up with kind words and patience when I stumbled.
And you’ve always believed in me, which is one of the greatest gifts one person can bestow on another.
Thank you, Joan.
Thank you.
